How the job comes together
Four stages. No mystery.
Excavation and sub-base
The existing surface is removed to the required depth before a compacted, load-bearing sub-base is installed.
Drainage and restraints
Falls, channels and edge restraints are formed so water is controlled and the paving remains secure.
Laying and compaction
Blocks are laid accurately on a prepared bed, cut neatly, jointed and compacted for a crisp, stable finish.

Ground conditions
Soft or previously disturbed ground may need additional excavation and sub-base to prevent movement.
Drainage
The driveway must manage surface water correctly, using suitable falls, permeable construction or drainage channels where required.

How long does a block paved driveway take?+
A typical domestic driveway often takes around one to two weeks, depending on its size, access, ground conditions, drainage and design detail.
Does block paving sink or move?+
Movement is usually linked to inadequate preparation. Correct excavation, a well-compacted sub-base, strong edge restraints and proper jointing greatly reduce the risk.
Can you replace an existing driveway?+
Yes. We can remove old paving, concrete, tarmac, gravel or garden areas, dispose of the waste and construct the new driveway from the ground up.
